Bayer Leverkusen Attacking Midfield sensation Kai Havertz is free to leave the club this summer only if certain conditions are met.
The 21-year-old has been linked with several clubs, including Chelsea, has found the back of the net 15 times this season and is in line for a starting berth in today’s German Cup final against Bayern Munich but questions over his future have increased after Leverkusen missed out on a place in next season’s Champions League.
Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Voller says the club have an agreement with Havertz which allows him to leave at the end of the current season.
“We have an agreement – if it fits, he can go this summer. As of now, he is a player of ours. We have our ideas, we know what he can do” , said Voller to German based newspaper ‘Bild’.
“I personally hope he stays one more year. Of course, you can’t force anyone. Havertz knows what he owes to his colleagues, the fans and the club.”
Havertz is currently valued at nearly £80M and is also targeted by German giants Bayern Munich, but that move is unlikely to pull through as the Bavarians recently completed the signing of Leroy Sane from Man City.
