Everton have announced that former England defender Ashley Cole has joined Frank Lampard’s coaching setup.

Cole had been part of the staff at Chelsea’s academy following his retirement in 2019, but has left west London and joined up with former teammate Lampard on Merseyside.

The 41-year-old was also appointed assistant manager of England’s Under-21s in the summer and is expected to continue his role with the Young Lions.

In a club statement, Cole said: “I was thrilled when Frank asked me to join him at Everton. This is a brilliant opportunity with a fantastic club and I am coming here to work hard and try to help bring success to Everton.
